Sulfates containing ingredients, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate, are anioninc surfactants often used in cleansing products, due to their ability to solubilize oily compounds and to create foam at the skin surface.

Common sulfates containing ingredients include: SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE, SODIUM COCOYL SULFATE, AMMONIUM LAURYL SULFATE, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE ...

These ingredient have strong detergent properties, and they can induce skin irritation for people with fragilized skin and disturbe skin barrier, leaving it more permeable for other ingredient.

Due to these properties, it is usually recommended to avoid such sulfate containing ingredients in skincare, cosmetic and personal care products, especially when one has sensitive or reactive skin.
